Matt Grogan
Matt was a goaltender at UConn, where he won the Atlantic Hockey Top Goaltender Award, and brings professional playing experience. His passion for the game, work ethic, knowledge and drive led him to establish Prime Goaltending, a goalie specific hockey training company, in 2018. Grogan has a vast background being an instructor and counselor at hockey camps & clinics around North America. He was Volunteer Goalie Coach for the College of the Holy Cross AHA D1, 2017-2018 season, and Asst. Coach, Video & Goalie Coach for the New York Applecore EHL, 2018 to present.
Grogan played at the professional level as a member of the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL in 2014 before playing for the Mississippi RiverKings of the SPHL for the 2015-2016 season. He was a goaltender for the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL) in 2016.
He was a top goalie at the Division I level at UConn from 2009-2014. After the 2012-2013 season, he earned the Atlantic Hockey Top Goaltender Award by posting a 1.93 goals against average and .937 save percentage. He also received Atlantic Hockey All-Conference honors, was named the New England Hockey Journal Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year and the Goaltending Consultant Group Goaltender of the Year.
Grogan played juniors in the AJHL for the Okotoks Oilers and Calgary Canucks, and the NAHL Bismarck Bobcats.
Ryan Goodliffe
Born and raised in Brewster, NY, Ryan Goodliffe began his career as a goaltender at a young age. Growing up, Ryan was a key member of the Westchester Express and played at The Harvey School during his high school years. More recently, Ryan has spent the last 3 seasons playing Junior Hockey in the EHL and USPHL Premier billeting around the country.
Ryan is a team player and carries his positive attitude on and off the ice. As a valued teammate and coach, Ryan has the skills to motivate and uplift young goaltenders to play hard and excel to the next level. Ryan is also currently the Director of Goaltending at South Kent School.
Abbie Ives
Growing up skating at the Brewster Ice arena, Abbie then played high school hockey at Fox Lane. Abbie played 4 years at Quinnipiac University (NCAA D1) followed by 3 years professional with the Connecticut Whale.
In addition to working for Prime, Abbie is currently coaching at Sacred Heart University as an assistant coach for the women’s team, (NCAA D1). Abbie loves to pass down what she has learned as a player to young goalies!
Andrew Gargiulo is a former New York Applecore goaltender who was coached in the EHL under the guidance of Matt Grogan himself. Andrew then moved on to play at the ACHA level in college for the Stony Brook Seawolves. Andrew has experienced all levels of the game and has the expertise for any and all age groups.
Andrew has been working with Prime Goaltending for almost 5 years, training goaltenders in the NY/CT region. Prior to working at Prime Goaltending, Andrew was a student at Prime Goaltending himself, learning the same fundamentals every goalie must master in today’s game.
Andrew holds goaltenders accountable while still bringing a lighthearted approach to the game, challenging goalies to expand their skill set in a way that benefits not only them, but their team as a whole.
