Matt Grogan

Owner, Head Coach

Matt Grogan is a 2014 graduate of UCONN (NCAA D1), where he was the 2012-2013 Goaltending Champion and named to the third team all-league.  Matt was also named the 2013 Goalie Consultant Group Goaltender of the Year for his Division 1 performance.

After UCONN, Matt played professionally in the ECHL and SPHL. In 2018, Matt started his own goalie training company based out of the CT/NY area, Prime Goaltending Inc.

Matt builds an excitement for hockey. Always engaged and interactive with each goaltender on the ice, Matt is positive and encouraging toward his students, leaving them excited for the next session. Matt will work to improve each goaltender’s skills, technical mechanics, and hockey knowledge in a fun environment that builds confidence and enthusiasm.

Ryan Goodliffe

Ryan Goodliffe

Born and raised in Brewster, NY, Ryan Goodliffe began his career as a goaltender at a young age. Growing up, Ryan was a key member of the Westchester Express and played at The Harvey School during his high school years. More recently, Ryan has spent the last 3 seasons playing Junior Hockey in the EHL and USPHL Premier billeting around the country.

Ryan is a team player and carries his positive attitude on and off the ice. As a valued teammate and coach, Ryan has the skills to motivate and uplift young goaltenders to play hard and excel to the next level.  

Abbie Ives

Abbie Ives

Growing up skating at the Brewster Ice arena, Abbie then played high school hockey at Fox Lane. Abbie played 4 years at Quinnipiac University (NCAA D1) followed by 3 years professional with the Connecticut Whale.

In addition to working for Prime, Abbie is currently coaching at Sacred Heart University as an assistant coach for the women’s team, (NCAA D1). Abbie loves to pass down what she has learned as a player to young goalies!

Andrew Gargiulo

Andrew Gargiulo is a former New York Applecore goaltender who was coached in the EHL under the guidance of Matt Grogan himself. Andrew then moved on to play at the ACHA level in college for the Stony Brook Seawolves. Andrew has experienced all levels of the game and has the expertise for any and all age groups. 
Andrew has been working with Prime Goaltending for almost 5 years, training goaltenders in the NY/CT region. Prior to working at Prime Goaltending, Andrew was a student at Prime Goaltending himself, learning the same fundamentals every goalie must master in today’s game.
Andrew holds goaltenders accountable while still bringing a lighthearted approach to the game, challenging goalies to expand their skill set in a way that benefits not only them, but their team as a whole.
